Hello and welcome to my very first blogpost!
I've pondered over the idea for many months now, and with the arrival of 2016 I finally quit being lazy and did it! I've been using Pinterest along with sticky notes in cook books to organize all my creations, but my passion for cooking and baking has grown into something that cannot be satisfied this way any longer. So this blog is my solution!
Along with helping me with my organization skills, I'm able to share my food obsession with the rest of the world! It's a win-win.
I'll tell you a secret...
The hardest part of starting a blog is figuring out what to name it.
Seriously.
It's a very large part of why I waited so long!
After months and months (literally) of thought, I've settled on "Unexpected Foodie", and here's why.
Growing up, I was probably one of the pickiest eaters out there. Fish? No way. Steak? Meehh. Anything outside my hotdogs, peanut butter, bread and cheese regime? Forget about it. This was the case well into my teens, and even my early twenties.
So it came as an unexpected surprise after twenty some-odd years when I started experimenting with cooking.
Something strange started happening... I started actually enjoying things like peppers... and fish... and even brussel sprouts!
Over the past 7 years I have completely fallen in love with food, and the joy it brings everyone.
Through travelling I have a formed a firm belief that food is the one connection (other than love, 'cause I'm a sap like that) that every single human being on the planet shares.
Food will bring anyone and everyone together, and allows for magical things to happen.
Nowadays, some of my fondest memories I have with my fiance, family and friends are either in the kitchen or around a dining table.
I live in a small one bedroom condo located in the heart of Downtown Ottawa, which means my kitchen is anything but large. While I would LOVE to have a ginormous workspace, I have fun making do with what I have!
I have been able to make this...

and these...

and even these!

I can't wait to get started, and share some delicious food experiences throughout my unexpected journey!
